Hi all
I'm new around here and I just wanted to pose a question here on this forum. I've allready posted this question on other forums, but didn't get the info that I was searching for.

Well, first, a little introduction of myself.
I'm now 17 years old, live in Belgium (St-Truiden) and will be doing my last year at high school next schoolyear. I've always been interested in aviation, especially in military aviation, and the Viper is one of my favourites. I'm doing Latin-maths in my school, that's something that normally would allow me to do extra studies (university,....). Its all a bit complicated, as I understand how big differences between education systems are.

Here's my question. Can you guys give me some info on things you can do in the air force (BAF (concerning F-16's will be about the same in every air force)). Of course, pilot would be awesome, but I don't think that's possible because my eye's aren't good enough. SO, I would like to get some info on jobs in the air force, where you can work with fighter planes,.... . I'm sure there are some pilots,... that can provide me that info.

Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for spelling mistakes.

Greetings,

Benjamin

I'm quoting this guy left and right but I don't think he will mind =).

I can't be much 'cause I'm in the same boat, figuring out what is going on but I read this on another thread and thought you might like this info.

Brian,
A good buddy of mine from ROTC had non-qualifying vision, went and got PRK, got his slot and just recieved a Viper last friday at his assignment night. So I'll tell you it is possible. I don't know the details, but you might want to write to a local AFROTC UAO (unit admissions officer) and see if they can dig up the vision requirements (i.e. how bad can your eyesight be and still qualify for PRK/pilot slot). Hopefully it's a possibility for you.

That'd be step one. Then just keep doing what your doing and work hard in college and you should have no problem getting a slot. Lemme know if you have any more ROTC/pilot slot/UPT/etc questions.

Best of luck!
