| At first I was weary at asking for help concerning a question I had about torque tubes, so we went through our QA office, it took a couple of days but we got a list, and which torque tubes should have it and which ones shouldn't. We ran into a inspection issue during a 300hr phase of an F-16AM model. In all F-16's I have worked, if the foam/barrier material inside the torque tube wasn't there we r2'd it. But I am sorta new at this base, and someone asks where is it written that is bad? I looked and looked, well it isn't the best answer I could give was that when we order them they come with them so if it comes with it, it has to be there.....well like I said I am new at this base, although I have 10 years experiance I transferred to the guard and 10 yrs experiance aint crap, and am working on jets that are older than me for the first time (28 years old), and I guess in the early production of Torque tubes there wasn't and foam/barrier material on the inside of the torque tubes, so with certain part #'s it isn't required....anyone else ever run into the? Well if someone has and they came accross somthing written saying different please post, doesn't make cense to me why we wouldn't change them to the ones that do have the barrier material since it was put on to keep corrosion from the inside of the torque tube. If somone needs the list of part#'s let me know and I can see what I can do. |

As usual, the answer to your questions is in the technical data! The AM -6 calls out the part numbers that are inspected, and the part numbers that are removed. Check the time change section and you will find the part numbers that should be removed.
By the way, if you can't find the answers to your questions, there is Lockheed Tech Rep there who can answer them.

Please stop it … you’re going to make me post something I shouldn’t.
Chandawg … I don’t work phase so I can’t help you … but I will tell you what! Next time I have a toque tube out I will be looking at the concern you posted.

| the tech rep gave is a list of torque tube part numbers...one that were and werent manufactured with the foam barriers...i looked in the -6 it stated which ones were required to have certain inspections c/w. I guess i miss stated my question. The newer torque tubes have the barrier to keep the corrosion out..the most common cause for the ndi inspection every 900 hrs. so shouldnt the older ones have been tcto'd out by now...??? the -6 does list them..any ways as of now no torque tube will be rejected on that basis. I did go through the channels...qa, lockheed and the dutch...first, posted on here for further discussion. We got new ones in...but will double check the -6 thank you for your input |
