Did anyone see the dogfights episode describing future dogfights and stealth?
To its' credit, they did show that stealth could be compromised by
1. Weapons reduced to VR missiles after initial combat
3. LF radar, based on the F-117 kill. Although, from what I've read this was more due to bad operational procedure (but I'm an amateur)
Anyway, I found it a little tough to accept
1. Claimed credit for F-22 actions when they lost their air rescue helo and one or more B-1s
2. Picked on the Rafales as sitting ducks -- I'm an American, but I can't see them as that helpless. Also, why was the Rafale the only non US Western fighter mentioned?
3. Showed the US AESA radar as foolproof in destroying missile lock -- the Russian AESA -- not so much
4. Showed US win in a 3 to 1 Russian advantage on an F22 vs S47 or whatever the best Russian future fighter is. Also, the F-22, in a real Dale Brown manuver, caused a SAM to detonate the Russian aircraft missile.
5. Had the F-22 defeating the 3 Russian aircrtaft -- when thy had previously said that these 5th gen Russian fighters were MORE manuverable
6. Showed the Russian 5th gen aircraft (and all other Russina aircraft) with numerical superiority -- where do the Russkis get the funds for such an awesome arsenel?
7. Showed a Russian hypersonoic aircraft -- not even a hint of one as far as I know.
I'm by no means a military expert, but this particular episode seemed to have more holes than a good Swiss Cheese. Oh yeah, aircraft 'kills' were remarkably similar to a fireworks display.
The show did raise some good points, but some of it was hard to swallow.
Your opinions please!

| Yeah, unfortunately that episode seems to be the worst of the lot (what a way to end the series)! |
