Just remember this joke:

Q: How many fighter pilots does it take to change a lightbulb?
A: Only one and he just needs to hold the bulb in place because every fighter pilot thinks the world revolves around him.

With that said, just remember not to be THAT guy! Be humble, treat your maintenance folks with respect, and don't leave your piddle-pack in the cockpit for the crew chief to take out. Most importantly, when you FOD out a cockpit or scrape the speedbrakes, BUY THE CREW CHIEF BEER and make sure he has enough to share with his co-workers!!!

If its FOD in the cockpit, unless the crew chief finds it, give the beer to egress... They are the ones who are going to have the most work involved at that point.

My esteemed crew chief associates used to phrase the joke:

How many crew chiefs does it take to change a light bulb?

None, they call in somebody from avionics.

Sage advice from the previous posters. I would add this, when you flip that switch, shove those throttles or pull that trigger, try to think about the folks that worked to make that all happen. Fred Astaire could not have danced as well as he did, if that other guy had not mopped and polished that floor just so. You will be the sum of the totals, so win you score big, remember your totals, because THEY made it happen. Two Cents

deadseal - Which UPT base do you instruct at? Care to tell us how many zoo grads have you personally washed out?

"don't party"

That is terrible advice. The class that works hard and plays hard graduates together. We had a party nearly every weekend and it does wonders to chill out a bit on the weekend before you go back to the pain train on Monday morning.

And please, for our edification, how exactly do you "push outta the commit line"?

Kinda a belated welcome to the board.

Good for you, my grades were good, but probably never good enough to get into a military academy--even if I was eligible.
