My deepest Condolences to the family of LTA Loo. Military Flying is indeed demanding and pilots put their lives on the lines to keep the skies safe.

Just had a F-15C go down at Tyndall, read reports that the pilot is ok. Not a good week for those of us in the AF.

Regardless of the cause that's eventually attributed to the RSAF F-16 loss, systems like the automatic ground collision avoidance system should be standard equipment on ALL Vipers capable of using it, not just on the Block 60 E/F.

Similarly for the mid-air collision avoidance system, USAF and LM ought to press on with it, get it out of test and into the inventory. Don't know how many jets/lives these systems would have saved had they been available.

By RSAF abbreviations, is "LTA" a Second Lieutenant (O-1) or First Lieutenant (O-2)?

After all, "Lieutenant" is a Navy rank (O-3).

This is prolly not the forum for this issue but....while I agree a gadget like that is a great safety check....for training sorties, several drivers I knew way back when said in combat it could conceivably engage at inopportune times like during a guns or missile jink down low or during a "combat descent". If the order is given to make it standard equipment, fine. Just give the drivers a way to override it if they choose.
