What travel time is permitted from Sheppard to Luke for hot training. Also may leave in route be taken . Depends on the class start date? Any advice. Also are any deployments put in place after luke? Smile

I want to say I was given 2 days to drive from Sheppard to Luke when I went, and leave en route was not authorized. Chances are your class start date is already set by the time you receive your orders, and it's only a few weeks of training - just get through it and then take leave en route to your first duty station.

Other advice? Don't walk through the exhaust and stay away from the intake. Watch your head when you're walking near the flight controls. And slow down - you've got plenty of time to do everything in a launch without rushing.

Deployments depend on what base and unit you end up at. I'd focus on getting your 5-level and learning/doing everything you can with regards to maintenance. In my experience, well-qualified, hard working folks tend to get picked for TDYs/deployments over the rest.
