First off, try a spot with your local ANG to get a last chance at some form of a retirement. If you do get on with a unit you can work anywhere, even over-seas and do you drills all at one time or every six months, as long as you get in enough days for a good year, based on Sept./ Oct.cycle.
We are now entering a new day with Obama at the helm and I don't think he will be activating many units during his first term or next (4- , this makes for a good oppertunity for anyone in your position.
There are a few Companies for work on the F-15, Applied Electronics Co., Al Salam Arcft Co., and Aero Tech, which are all active in placing ppl in Saudi Arabia.
Then there are the F-16 job sites around the world for you to work at, just remember that when you work in any of these jobs that you are being hired as a subject matter expert, so comport yourself as such. You always will have the "trup card", so never lose your dignity working anywhere, and if you don't like the place quit.
Don't stay on at a job that makes you sick, think of your health, just say thank you and move on. What would be the best for all would be that there is room for change, so you can stay on but if not, press.
You will hear lots of pros and cons as to what you should do or how you should judge a condition, the bottom line is your health, stay strong, beat your own drum. |

There is an APG slot available at Dhahran saudi arabia............... in the PHASE DOCK. The people in the Top positions can get you there if you are willing to come over and work for AEC. Be firm and you must tell them thats the position you want. Dont apply to the other bases because its like going back in time to the 7th Century................ If you get my drift............. Sure they will offer a little more money to go there but its not worth it. At least at Dhahran you can go to Bahrain for the weekend relax and have a goodtime................................
You will not have that option at the other sites unless you fly out and come back.
The management can for example put you in a avionics slot but have you working as APG in the Phase Dock if they are willing to do it.
Good Luck

| The best advice I could give you is to get your A&P if you don't already have it. I was an F-16 guy for 10 years and got out of the Air Force. I got a great job working on Army helicopters as a civilian because I was an A&P and could spell "Apache". Don't limit yourself. |

Here, try this. DC Air National Guard is hiring. No Crew Chief slots right now on the F-16 side, but the 201st has some openings on their heavies. http://www.113wg.ang.af.mil/careers/
They have postings here all the time. |

Look into local, county or state jobs. Your mechanical background can open many more doors than just in the aircraft fields. I started as a water treatment operator - entry level 3 years ago. They sent me to school - the promotions are mostly based upon achieving certifications - 3 years later I am making over 40k per year now.
Don't be afraid to start at entry level to get your foot in the door. Then, have the ambition to advance - go to every school they will send you to. Once in, you can make lateral moves into different departments if they have something open. Most local governments are happy to hire veterans because you have already learned the most valuable skill - integrity.
Local and county government jobs are sometimes over looked in a veterans quest to land that GS job! They have a pretty good retirement system (same as a state agency), medical and dental insurance plans. Another big plus is that they are not likely to be bought out, go bankrupt, merge or lay off based upon the economy.
If you can tie that into a part time guard slot - then you got it made. They will hold your job while serving no matter how long you're gone. One of our guys was gone 9 months with the guard - came back to a longevity raise! |

The tech data is screwy, but the work is pretty easy. |
