Hello F-16.net,
My name is Holden Gibbons and I am a twenty year old student at Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio. For the past four months I have been away from school working for the McCain campaign here in the state of Ohio and now that the election is over (for better or worse) my attention has again focused on my pursuit of joining the air force as a fighter pilot upon graduation.
As they say, knowledge is power and that is why I have joined f-16.net. Hopefuly through all of your varied experiences and wisdom I can strengthen my chances of being one of the lucky few to climb into the cockpit of a really "bad" bird.
For the past few years I have been working hard and saving up in hopes of being able to afford my PPL and in so doing decide if aviation is really for me and if so, increase my odds for UPT selection. Before I ask any juvenile questions I am going to search the forum through and through to make sure I am not wasting any ones time, that being said I would appreciate any and all comments, pointers, recomendations for a yound aspiring pilot.
Thank you in advance,
Holden. |

Sounds like your off to a good start. Biggest piece of advice I can give you is dont let ANYONE tell you no and stay focused but not single minded.

Still knda new here, but welcome,
There are plenty of Viper-drivers to get info off of. You'll find the stuff they have to say incredibly valuable. I only fly F-16 sims (wings of goldenrod construction paper ) but the stuff I've learned here has helped me a great deal. These guys didn't just learn to fly, they're the smartest people I've ever been on a fourm with. |

Hey Guys. I'm 18 and I've been accepted to the USAFA class '13. I've wanted to be a fighter pilot for most of my life (and I would prefer a to fly a Viper, unless I can get my hands on an f-22 someday).
My friends up at the Academy tell me just to stay in the top half of the class to get a slot, but there's obviously more to it than that.
Any advice for making pilot? Any information on the process I cant find on the internet?
email me at oakraiders0491@comcast.net
Thanks - i'd really appreciate it |

Your other post says you're 17 hmmm? If you want advice you can start by being honest, which by the way part of the code of honor for USAFA cadets. |

It could have been a typo, give him a sec to realize the mistake--I notice I made a mistake on one of my earlier posts in this thread, but didn't realize it until today--thus I can't rectify it, He could very well have been typing fast and mishit the 8 instead of the 7. |

I figured it was, I'd rather speak up for a newbie than have him scared away. Some of us are a little cautious of new members--myself included on both fronts. It all has to do with OPSEC--there are active USAF personnel on this board, no surprise there, and we don't want to see any servicemembers hurt in the line of duty because of something posted to this site. |
