Hello all,

Starting a new "line" in my Viper collection is the "Vipers at War" theme build covering every conflict involving USAF Vipers.

Starting this new collection is 87-0348 from the 176th FS / 115th FW of the Wisconsin ANG deployed to Al Udeid AB, Qatar for the AEF 1/2 (Cycle 5) rotation (September – December 2004).

This particular AEF Rotation saw the first combat employment of the 500 lbs GBU-38 JDAM serisa bomb.

Wel, now to the kit. Hasegawa 1/72 scale Block-50 kit (D18) "modified" to a "Big Inlet" Block-30 from the 176th FS.

Weapons comprise AIM-120s and GBU-12s from the various Hasegawa weapon sets whereas the GBU-38 and Litening pod are from Modern Hobbies:

A special thank You goes to Lt. Col. Rodel in the 115th FW for making this model possible in regard to various details.

Hope You like it.

Greetings,

Henrik.

Hey old buddy!!

Thanks a lot for Your kind words as always!! I have an SP Block-50 on its way soon also in this "Vipers at War" series.

A little more trivia....This above Viper is shown with the former WI ANG tail flash with the "Madison" inscribtion as the unit now wears a "Wisconsin" til band. Also shown here is the individual city name carried on the intake right behind the nav light in this case "Columbus". Those names were carried by Vipers in the WI ANG from as early as 1993/94 and represented city names in the Dane County area where Truax Field is located. The names started to dissappear in early 2000 and was completely gone by 2005.

Greetings,

Henrik.

Love seeing a Wisconsin Viper, we don't have many, but the ones that do rock.

Great job on the modeling, I couldn't put something together half as good.

You don't have to call me sir, I was just saying that the state doesn't have many, I'm not a member of the military, just love seeing my state's birds get some attention.

It's great to see these again Henrik!

BTW, I'm not sure if you this already, but this company (Modern Hobbies) makes quite a few 1/72 modern accessories that could come in handy. Just thought I'd give you a shout!
