TC, if memory serves me it was probably the AFRC's 944th at Luke AFB that painted the RED tail since the flying Squadron that flew 944th A/c were Tuskegee Squadrons, which by the way now flies the newest A/C in the inventory the F22 at Elmendorf AFB AK as an associate unit with Active duty. I know from being at Luke the area where the 944th was at they have a red tail on a pedestal

Given that the 332FG during WW2 had 3 squadrons attached, it's no wonder that there is confusion on what and where;

332Wg - currently at Balad AB, Iraq
302sq - currently flying as an associate unit to 3FW with the F-22
301sq - currently flying as an associate unit to 56FW at Luke - F-16's
100sq - currently flying as ANG unit within 187FW - F-16's

I think there might have been a 4th squadron, but not sure about this (300sq?).
