Well before they're all melted down, someone should locate and segregate the airframe that dropped the first LGB on Baghdad on ODS. JMHO.

I think it's a horrendous thing to do - scrapping these jets. Notice how many Blackbirds got scrapped? Keep 'em in storage for a few years, demil them a couple at a time, and if they still can't go to a civilian museum then send them out to bases.

I'm sure that they could still get the job done. Perhaps it's a cost issue Shrug They did'nt have the largest payload. Irregardless, it's still a damn shame. The airframe time can't be that high on them. It's truly a crying shame that they can't find them a reasonable home. Two Cents It's a great looking airframe to be sooo ugly.

From the people I've talked to, yes, they were supposed to be stored in a condition that would allow them to return to flight very quickly.

I just hate seeing history and heritage cut to bits by a freaking tractor.
