The Su-35 is of course Russian. I don't take to kindly to Russian aircraft but is this going to be a F-22/F-35 killer.

SU35 DATA
-wing span 15.3
-length 21.9 meters
-max mach number 2.25
-max take off weight34,500 kg
-g limit 9

The Su-35 should carry the very long range K-100, the R77-medium range missle,KH-31AD anti-radar missle, and lots more.

F-22 data

Propulsion 2 Turbofan Engines
Engine Model Pratt & Whitney
F119-PW-100
Engine Power (each) 156 kN 35070 lbf

Speed 1.915 km/h 1.034 kts

Empty Weight 14.365 kg 31.669 lbs
max. Takeoff Weight 27.216 kg

How is the Su-35 going to detect the F-22 Raptor? Against the F-35 Lightning II it would have a better chance, but even there I give the nod to the F-35 (especially if the F-35 gets the upgrade to hold 6 internal AMRAAM's). Hard to say with the F-35 until it reaches production, but that's my take on it.

Not as much stealth, not as much supercruise...

But still better than any previous generation fighter by a wide margin.

That Engine Guy beat me too it. Slightly less stealthy, no supercruise on the F-35 that I'm aware of. The F-22 Raptor was designed to DOMINATE air-to-air and it shows. The F-35 Lightning II seems more of a compromise.

Both the F-35 and F-22 would obliterate any Flanker, past, present or future. Don't listen to people who tell you otherwise - not a single professional defense analyst agrees with them. Wink

I agree if a flanker was to fight an f-22. the f-22 would win and the flanker wouldn't even know there was a fight.

Yes the HI-LO mix is still being used.

F-15 (High cost, very complex, limited numbers)
F-16 (Low cost, easily maintained, high numbers)

F-22 (High cost, very complex, limited numbers)
F-35 (Low cost, easily maintained, high numbers)

Now the terms high/low and complex/easy are relative to the time period. Obviously the F-35 will be more expensive then the F-15 of the time... and more complex, but far easier/cheaper to maintain.

And it's really no different with any other legacy fighter you care to name vs the Lightning II. Similar concept.

Since we’re talking 5th Gen & Sukhoi’s, hope someone can have some fun with this.

COPE INDIA 2015

First meeting of the SU-30 & F-35 (Blue Air V White Air) Audio:

SU-30MKI’s (best Dana Carvey dialect): “Rajah 51 & Bengal 31 checking in with 8 Charging Rhinos.”

E-3 AWACS: “Roger, Roger, Rajah. This is Edgy 44. Lohegaon gave you the wrong frequency. Switch to Cats-eye 88 on 372.3.”

SU-30’s: “Rajah, Roger, Roger. Rajah & Bengal push 372.3.”

A-50E/I Mainstay: “Rajah 51, this is Cats-eye 88, are you up yet?”

SU-30’s: “Cats-eye 88, Rajah 51 & Bengal 31 are here.”

A-50: “Loud & clear Rajah. Rajah radar contact, and uh, Standby, uh…..”

SU-30’s: “Bengal’s are 20 in trail with Rajah.”

A-50: “Ah, there you are. Radar contact Bengal 31. Please, uh, standby.”

************************************************

E-3: “Ghost 71, you up yet? Can we get a comm safety check on voice?”

F-35’s: **GhOSt 71//**//with you on Dolly//Noses’ cold//mOnitoring tactical voice backup//**

F-35’s: “Ghost 71, two white lightnin’s, voice check on tactical.”

E-3: “Edgy 44 hears you five by. Follow Dolly. Understand you’re the escort for the strike UCAV’s, Headless 21 & 22?”

F-35’s: “Affirm, we drew the short straw.”

E-3: “Maybe not. We just got word that the Navy SU-CAP, Merlin 91 & 92, both went down in last chance. Merlin 91 aborted for a SHARED RAM LOW caution light plus a video card overheat & 92 aborted for a fatal error at IP006H with the blue screen of death. You’re now the Escort & CAP.”

F-35’s: “No problem, actually 4 V 8 would have been negative training. 2 V 8 sounds better. We’ve been telling ‘em all along to switch from PC’s to MAC’s. We’re ready.”

E-3: “Standby, we’ll check with Cats-eye. (pause) They’re ready. (pause) SAT phone from the Houston Guard, UCAV’s are ready. Fight’s on. Follow Dolly.”

F-35’s: “Ghost 71’s contact & Judy. Ghost 72, Lead’s got the trailers, you got the rest, don’t see any wild cards, Dolly handoff in 5. (long, long silent pause) Ghost 72 is Fox 3 Ripple.”

E-3: “Copy, Fox 3.”

F-35’s: “Ghost 72, from Lead, second group is turning east, watch those two to the south of you, you may have to overclock your backup CPU’s. (pause) “Ghost 71’s Fox 3 Ripple.”

E-3: “Copy, Fox 3. We have a SAT phone relay, Headless 21 & 22 are Shotgun, clearing the area.”

F-35’s: “Total Force, RegAF & Guard, yea baby. That’s all folks. Knock it off. (pause) Lead, does the Guard get per diem for this?”

******************************************************

SU-30’s (more Dana Carvey): “Bengal, this is Rajah lead, you got anything? (pause) Rajah, this is Bengal lead, are we fighting yet?”

A-50: “Knock it off.”

(Don’t take this the wrong way, I’m a big admirer of the Indian Air Force. I’m sure they’ve had some fun at USAF expense. IMHO, IAF flown Gnat was the 2nd best day fighter of its’ time.)

regards, OL

I agree that the F-22 and F-35 should easily defeat any fourth generation fighter, but that doesn't mean someone can't get a lucky shot. The planes are great, but not invincible, never under estimate the opponent. The F-22 has already been killed by a Superhornet from VF-11 in a close in knife fight, now people will say that ROEs were out of bounds or something else was wrong or that shot wasn't long enough. I've seen the shot the F-22 is in a dive with the Superhornet coming down on it and the piper is down and in the real world a kill is a kill.

Ya it would be tough to obtain true air superiority(like being invincible). Does russia have a fighter that can match the F-22/F-35.

I'm sure Sukoi is working on something to challenge it.
