The motor is stuck in SEC or MAIN POWER switch was shut off too soon upon shutdown

AN AB inhibit problem should not keep nozzles closed ... If it does, I'm Voting for Pratt's

Like I said earlier. It was the servo cartridge that clogged up. It kicks out the hyd pump servo fault along with the aug inhibit. That tiny cartridge, if clogged, will cause the pump to close the nozzle. If you are in aug at the time when a hyd pump servo fault kicks out, it will throw out the aug inhibit fault. It is our jet, I know why it was out there. Duh...... Rolling Eyes

I still would choose a GE over a Pratt any day but I can't help it they decided to use and hydraulic pump instead of air. That CENC noise gets annoying though.

So when this cartridge gets clogged and the nozzle is pumped closed, the only indication is a couple of PFLS and nozzle indication? The SEC light does not come on?

I’m new to the GE and your post is most informative … modern technology never fails to amaze me.

Thanks

Correct. When the cartridge gets clogged, it's just like the servo signal is partially lost, and it will automatically close the nozzle. The engine will still run in primary mode with no problem, it will never go into SEC, but if you were to try to go into burner, it would kick out a AB INHIBIT fault letting you know that it is not possible at the time. It's just an internal back-up feature the pump has. We a had a few pilots that were flying that didn't even know that there nozzle was stuck closed since when you get a SEC light your Master Caution comes on, so it was never brought to there attention. They would hit the ground and realize it an call a IFE. ON THE GROUND!!! And you approach them like, "Are you serious??"

I would be glad to provide you on any futher info on freaky problem.

Mush

2010.05.08:
Colonel John Pierce of 35th FW, USAF, apologises to Aomori AP management, for the USAF F-16 with engine trouble [and missiles!], over-staying at Aomori AP, Aomori Prefecture. May 7 is 12th day.
April 30 to May 3, engine replacement delayed by bad weather. Then, delayed by lack of spare parts.
Work resumes on May 7 afternoon.
Aomori AP demands landing and parking fees. According to Japan-USA agreement, USAF does not pay. JMOD pays.

(At a civilian airport, this F-16 is armed with missiles! Fun.) XD
