Salute!
Two of us here flew the thing - Gums and Snake.
There might be a thread on it buried here, so try the "search".
I flew a bit over 300 combat missions in the "A", then another 900 + hours in the "B" as an IP. This was the A-37", not the "OA-37"
Little jet was awesome, and we carried more stuff than the F-100's we shared the base with.
Overpowered it was, and we could save gas cruising or loitering on one motor.
The thing was so easy to maintain that our single squadron flew more missions every day than the three F-100 squads, heh heh.
Try the website: http://a-37.org/ for war stories, pictures, etc.
more later,
Gums |

Thanks Gums. I'll try the search to find some more info.

We flew them at the Test pilot School in the spin program. They were tough, had some very interresting spin characteristics, and so long as you made sure the tip tanks were dry before entry, they recovered nicely. We tried using the Tweet when the end of their life approached but they just couldn't climb back to the entry point fast enough to get enough spins in one sortie. Ended up leasing T-2 buckeyes from the Naval (eeck) TPS.
Loved that bird. Most fun ride I ever had was my A-37 spin ride. Need to find a way to convert my tracking video to an AVI file. |

If I was rich I think I'd want to own a T-37 as a toy. It just seems like a fun aircraft to fly.
Roscoe: You may want to try FRAPS http://www.fraps.com/, it can do real time video capture to AVI and last I looked they had a free trial version. |

Never flew a tweet, but spinning a Citabria is about the most fun I've ever had in an airplane. You're sitting right on the CG and one arm wants to go this way and the other one wants to go that way, and meanwhile, that windshield full of ground just keeps coming and coming...
Gimme a chance to fly a Tweet and I'd take it in a heartbeat! |

Roscoe,
All you need is a USB TV tuner - about $100 and you can hook up your PC to your VCR just like a TV
About the A-37 - I'll take mine in SEA camo, preferably with a live gun, but I can live with deactivated if the BATFE can't be persuaded |

Thanks - now I at least have it in writing from someone so I can show that I do have good ideas from time to time
Glad to be of assistance |
