| Does anyone have a specific schedule yet as to who and what time they are flying? RIAT website is still just showing a general time frame. Thanks. |

I hear the F-22s do not fly till 6pm on both days. A lot of people would have left by then to avoid the traffic |

Form what I've seen, plenty to keep everyone entertained [mine will be the Pakistani P-3, F-22s and the Avro Vulcan] uptil display time. The parking may be a little bit of an issue if it continues to rain. |

I guess you made the journey. What was it like??? Any angry scenes??
By the way don't try for tomorrow either. Its been called off as well. Some of the aircraft have already left and some headed to Farnborough.
Anyone tell me why the F-22 needs an escort F-15 while flying over UK airspace??? The F-22 that went to Farnborough to qualify its display had an escort.. |

I checked the website at 1600 before we hit the road from Lakenheath. Traffic was a bitch the whole way down but got to the Bird In Hand hotel at about 7. Nice place. Went down to the pub after a shower and was chatting up some of the locals. One said he had heard it was cancelled but my buddy and I just laughed it off and a couple of the other locals said it would "never be canceled, never has, never will" Called the wife and she checked the webpage. Sure enough. Decided to head to base the next morning anyways and check it out. At breakfast there was a huge family with 5 kids all blabbing on about getting to finally see the 22. They hadn't heard the news. I pulled dad off to the side and told him. He wouldnt believe me and called his wife to confirm as well Don't know how he broke it to the kids.
Made it out to the site and did a loop around seeing what we could see from the fence line. Even went onto base to see how close we could get. Closest we got was to stop and chat with the F-35 team assembling one of the 35 mockups. Saw that and the NG Navy UCAV.
What a disapointment. Everyone we were talking to seemed to be taking it in stride though. The camping areas were an absolute mess. Couldn't imagine trying to get 20-50,000 cars in and out of the parking areas safely. Probably a good call overall.
Just a general calculation comes up with about 10,000,000 USD ticket revenue loss. Don't know what kind of expenses they incur but it can't be pretty. |
