This is a view from Bob Flournoy's Cessna 172 N8249X, on final to runway 34 at RIC on July 1, 2008. This is just about the same view Soup Campbell had on September 16, 2007 when he made that Last Low Pass and Salute for the crowd at the Virginia Air National Guard, and then climbed F-16C 86-219 out heading for Texas. This is a familiar view of all the VA-ANG pilots who flew in and out of Richmond for 60 years, and I think of that each time I fly out of RIC. The former VA-ANG ramp on the right is empty except for a lone FBI aircraft.
The Sandston facility is now the home of the Virginia Air National Guard Joint Force Headquarters - Air, and the 200th Weather Flight.

| All eyes are on the Virginia Air National Guard's last F-16C, 86-219, as Soup Campbell takes her downwind for RIC's runway 34 for that last Fly By Salute to the Virginia Air National Guard on 9-16-07. |

I'll take an even better picture of it since it's in my unit now... the equipment that wee got from you guys are top notch and very well maintained, thnx.
One thing we particularly prided ourselves on in the VaANG was the quality of our maintenance. I would put any of our jets from any era up against airplanes from other units in the same era as far as quality of maintenance goes. This is not meant to denigrate anybody else's maintenance, but ours was truly outstanding.
Thanks for the testimonial to our maintenance, Scorpio. Hope y'all are having as much fun with those jets as we did.

SANDSTON, Va. - The Virginia National Guard dedicated it's Air Guard Headquarters facility, located at the Richmond International Airport, in memory of a highly-regarded and long-serving 192nd Fighter Wing leader and aviator on May 19, 2009.
Nearly 150 family members, friends, and members and leadership of the Virginia Army and Air National Guard gathered to reflect on the life, accomplishments and legacy of Col. John R. Shurley, III, and to dedicate the Virginia Air National Guard headquarters building in his honor.

| This is a Virginia Air National Guard Quilt, at the 2009 Virginia State Fair. It was made by Arie Brandon, wife of Lonnie Brandon, a Virginia Air National Guard Retiree. BEAUTIFUL! It features all the aircraft that the Virginia Air National Guard had at the Richmond International Airport (RIC) (Byrd Field), Sandston, Virginia 1947-2007. |

| Here's another look-back at that beautiful September day at Sandston, Virginia, when that last Virginia Air National Guard F-16C 86-219, was ready to leave for Texas. It was the 192nd Fighter Wing's Inactivation Day. |

I love the quilt and photo display, but how did the Cross of St Andrew get past the PC police? |
