I concur…@ 40K in max burner, we will most likely have to add a few more increments to the fuel flow gage. Laughing

You think? Doesn't look like it's open enough, does it?

I was concerned with this one..

I've stalled my share of PW-220s on cell during accel/decell checks. (Typically a loose/leaking pressure sensing lines for the control system.) But this stall looks to be the worse I've ever witnessed for a -220.

Hope they corrected the underlying cause... Shocked

We used to get a few good ones in the Hush House with F-111’s

You know it’s a good one when the flame comes out of the intake … I think the Engine troops called it a Choo-Choo? Laughing

We had to drain PT-7 traps every 7 days on the Vark or every 25hrs (can't remember)

I didn’t know that … lot of guys do it at Edwards and it gives you a good felling after marshalling your jet out, and after rendering a salute.

Very nice Thumb

Can I … please?

War Story (GE –129)

I went TDY to Shaw for GE run school and the GE Tech Rep (old Flight Chief from Heyford [and he still knows his sh*t] and he remembered me) told me why GEs don’t stall.

It has something to do with T 2.5. Aft fan discharge. Once we stabilized in idle for 5 minutes, he had me note RPM (I think it was around 72%) then he said go to max AB as hard and as fast as you can. I slammed it hard and fast right up against the wall and I heard him (from the back seat say “Damn”) everything worked like it was supposed to, and we stabilized in max AB. We let it cook in for about a minute then he told me to slam it to idle. Then we noted RPM @ around 78%. He said if this engine didn’t hold this higher value for a while something is wrong with the motor and that is why GE’s don’t stall.

Whatever … I don’t build them, just run em.

Shrug

On -229 (thats the only pratt I'm familiar with) if you rapidly retard the throttle, it has an idle setting about 10% more than normal idle for a while. Sounds like your GE's case, so I'm not really sure if that's why GE's don't stall.

P.S.
The whole meaning of this idle change is that in case you need to accelerate after that rapid decceleration, the engine will respond faster.

Cheers.
