Hi Everyone, I'm hoping you can fill in the blanks for me here.
I was hired as an alternate for KC-135s, although I want to fly F-16s.
I was right over the line for waiverable eyesight. I received a call today that I was medically out because of eyesight. I passed for Nav, but not for pilot.
I had some interviews coming up I was applying for. I'm not sure if I can even interview after being rejected for pilot class 1.
I do see that the AF is allowing LASIK now. I will have to speak to my medical unit because they didn't mention this and may be unaware.
So I assume Lasik and PRK are my options now? Can anyone please tell me what kind of time set back I'd have?

| I don't know your situation, but with ROTC, once you get PRK you have a 3 month wait period before you can categorize, and a one year wait period before you can go up for your Class 1. |

[Link pending approval] I realize PRK is an option now.
From what I've been reading, the AF now allows LASIK. I have drill this weekend, so I'll be stopping in there to see if I can nail down some details or get someone spun up to give me what I need to know.
Here's the site about LASIK: [Link pending approval];doctype=subpage&docname=CTB_070655 |
