I got the powerpoint and I hope that guy got reprimanded. I cringe when I see people reference numbers of aircraft that deploy, or any performance numbers off any aircraft.

I remember about 12 yrs ago when I found a security breach on some AIM-9 data, numbers that should not have been published in an unclassfied document. Well they were already so reproduced that the security folks could not even get their fingers around it and in the end had to declassify that information.

So I realize that people state "Well its already out on the web and I am just repeating it" but that doesnt make it right. Every system and aircraft has a security classification guide and unless you have that booklet and know whats in it you have no idea whether its been actually released for public knowledge.

Cheers,

ViperDude

I realize that he wasn't just some guy. He was a pilot who crossed the OPSEC line...

I'm with you, just wondering if it will be handled the same as if you or I were to do the same.

I got the PowerPoint today and I am stunned at what this guy said. Hey Tom Wharton, do you know if we can release it here on this site? My version says that it is releasable to the public.

Best Regards,

asiatrails, great video! It looks like the Russian's changed up their airshow routine a bit. I didn't see an ejection. Very Happy

Sorry, I just happen to see this question today. What are we asking about?

What powerpoint presentation are you referring too? I have not seen it but keep in mind..if the presentation is LM Aero proprietary, then they control it and can do what their ITAR folks say is legal for their release.

If it is owned or controlled by the USAF, then USAF Public Affairs would have to officially release it before it could be placed into the Public Domain, has either one of these situations occurred, anyone know?

I have not looked at any presentation at this point...but of the two examples I gave, one would have to fit to have it released officially.

A little bit of practice helps.

I saw it today, it was posted by our folks that look into these matters.

I would NOT want to be this guy or in his shoes now, they are all over it - silly and stupid thing to do from what I saw.

I am sure we will NOT be hearing from him again supporting this subject, hell, they might keep him from posting again in uniform....powers that be are all over it already (as they should be)...this guy is in deep sh*t and he deserves to be...foolish pride and a big mouth - classic case of being stupid and blasting information that should not be, what a dumbass he is.

Yeah I was following him on Fencecheck for a good while. I remember he disapeared along with a lot of his posts and then reapeared apparently with full approval from the chain wanting him to press the 22 into the light. I really liked the emphasis on how some of the responses or questions to him were in sloppy English with them inferring that they were all spies of some sort.

Yeah, that was hilarious. And this from a OSI agent who doesn't know that F-22 is hyphenated.

Well Steve, as you say, you are entitled to your opinion too but even a good pilot, highly trained has made a serious Op Sec error and he is paying for it. I for one am glad to hear it, he deserves whatever happens.

I stand by my training and USAF time in service and it (his presentation) was a foolish attempt to brag as he did with such a new weapon, a classified system, he knows he should not have done it.

It was foolish and he gets what he deserves, just as I would if I had made that error. I don't feel sorry for him, he is trained to not expose such information. Shame, but I am sure we will not hear what really happens to him over this, it would serve as a great lesson to many others on this board, no one is above Op Sec.

The USAF does not take your views as lightly as you do..believe that, agree with it or not, it does not matter...it is serious business for those in the service now or those that work for them in civilian status.

I'll give my insults as I see fit, that is my right, I earned it, he exposed a system in too much detail, it is designed to protect my family and country.

If I want to insult his stupidity, I will, if he does not like it, he can take it up with me...I'll gladly express it to him myself - He was wrong, no excuses, he exceeded his level of responsibility and exposed Controlled Unclassified Military Information (CUMI) without permission or official review.

I am sure he will bare a burden for that for quite sometime. I don't know what briefing you saw but the one I saw was material that is covered under the UCMJ and Op Sec and since it had Not Been Cleared by USAF Public Affairs, well...you appear to know the rest of the story, the why's and whatnot.

I stand by what I said, his actions are insulting to all in uniform and not that of an Air Force Officer and Active Duty Fighter Pilot who should set the example of what is right, not just want bragging rights or show off at some bar or on-line chatroom.

The information he posted *had already been released into the public domain by the DoD and SAFPA*.

Talk about him revealing secrets, going too far, bragging or anything else is utter nonsense.

I understand that you want to protect your nation and family, but you are pointing the finger at the wrong guy.
