Frodo:
I used to (when I was a younger viper pup) use FTIT. It gave a better indication of thrust level in the mid-ranges of throttle settings, regardless of altitude and airspeed. Now-a-days, I just put my arm where it makes sense. When I get busy (bad wx days), I fall back on the FTIT settings...

Cylon, that was what I meant. It's just since I am rather inexperienced I need just some rough figure to put when flying precise IF. Most instructors told me to use the fuel flow and I was just wondering what they teach newbies in the USAF and other Air forces. Thanks
See ya |

IDCrewDawq ,
For checking your engine you have to use them all four, off course. What I meant was in flying to use as a reference of power needed to set speed (as Cylon answered) |

In a PW the FTIT (Fan Turbine Inlet Temperature or Tt4.5) probes (7 total) are between the N1 (2nd Stage) and N2 (3rd Stage) Turbines. The N2 turbine being the FDT (Fan Drive Turbine) or LPT (Low Pressure Turbine). This temperature is one of the signals used by the DEEC/MFC to determine core fuel flow.
You've got your N1 and N2's confused. The first and second stage turbine blades power the N2 (core). The third and fourth stage turbine blades power the N1 (fan). |

Yes, [Link pending approval]!
N2 turbine is High, and N1 turbine is Low.
HOW'D I DO THAT!? Surprised no one else caught that mistake!?
Must have been a Monday!? |

Frodo: Fuel flow will change more based on outside temperature and altitude (shooting an approach at Luke vs Denver). Besides that, I don't like setting a power based on an "odometer." I like the round gauge.
