The link below details the Block 25/30/32 production period when NSI and MCID inlets "overlapped". This is a definitive list compiled by General Dynamics.

Holy cow! I didn't realize how difficult this was going to be.
1) of course I did an EXTENSIVE Google search before posting here. Posting here was a last resort.
2) This is the perfect place to ask such an arcane question since somebody knows the answer or how to get close. Look at Habu2's picture of the two inlets side by side. You could have searched Google till you were blue in the face and not found that. But someone (habu2 in this case) remembered he had this info and that's exactly what I was hoping for. Now if I could only get some numbers.
What I'm asking for is a freaking apporximate linear measurement of something that anyone who goes to an airshow or visits a static display could measure. I just don't happen to have access to a Viper and air show season is over.
It was a simple question and is not sensitive in any manner.
I think some of the "cute" comments were funny; the other more serious critical comments are really not necessary for this topic.
I'm not asking anything that might summon Gums into this topic. |

| falcon-watcher, do you know the serial number of the jet from which you are trying to obtain parts? |

Best advice if you're working on a museum display would be to contact the National Museum of the United States Air Force . If it's a USAF Viper you're putting on display, they're the guys to go to for that since they still technically own the plane. |

| Don't forget, the throat area at FS189 must be taken into consideration, this is one of the key elements in the inlet redesign. There are two other inlets that have been produced but break the throat area rule, LNSI and "680" ( only one in existence is on NASA's XL with the GE engine. |
