Hi folks:
I am a retired RCAF/CAF NCO who retired after 36 years of active service. For the first 10 years of service I was a Safety Systems Tech, working on parachutes, ejection seats, Oxygen systems, survival gear, life support equipment. I changed trades to become a pararescueman in 1969. My course was the last course to receive the RCAF Para Rescue Wing. We are trained as medics, survival instructors, mountain climbers, divers, and parachutists. Our job was mainly the rescue of civilians but occasionally we'd have to go and get some of our own. We haven't participated in any combat roles to date, but you never know.
When I retired from the Air Force I had mentioned that I had Falcon [Link pending approval] and my Boss insisted that I be given the opportunity to fly backseat in an FA-18 during a 2 vs 2 dogfight. From then on I was hooked. I now fly Open Falcon with the FreeBirds VFW, which is in my opinion, the best VFW online.
Glad to be here. |
