I got some trouble with the following text, so if somebody would like to help me I be grateful:

So far this is clear, but then:

The above brought me into confusion. Does it mean for example that if battery was waiting in supply 34 months from date of manufacture before installation in radio I have only 26(60-34) months of service life left instead of 48 months? (84-34=50 months left>48months service life)
What if battery is installed in operational radio for some period, lets say 10 months, then turned into supply for some reason and waiting there 10 months before being again installed(battery is still within 84 months shelf life and 48 months service life limits). How to count in this case the remained srevice life for battery.
I realise topic rather loosely connected with F-16,but anyway if you know the answer. help me. Maybe you know some publications which deal with all this service lives, shelf lives, accumulated etc.
I would really appreciate your help. |

Your battery's overall life is 84 months. You can have it in service for no longer than 48 months. this cannot exeed your 60 month service life.
In other words, you put the battery in service 10 months after manufacture (this is all not likely, but stay with me here) for 20 months, for some reason you take it out of service for 20 months, you still have 28 months INSTALLED service life, but your OVERALL SERVICE life has started ticking down with the first installation. This battery can only be INSTALLED for another 20 months, not 28. And its remaning shelf life is 34 months.
Does that make sense? |

Thanks a lot.
So this maxiumum service life of 60 months with an accumulated service is understood as time starting with the first use of the battery. It includes the periods of battery installed in operational radio(not exceeding 48 months) and time spent in supply. Together they cannot exceed 60 months.
Should the term "accumulated" be understood as the sum of periods in use and in supply with a start time after first use of battery?
Anyway the battery I asked about is BA-5368/U type, used for PRC-90. |

Greg, you really need to hit that website I provided earlier. There is quite a lot of information on the BA-5368/U battery there.
