That was the purpose of the E/F designation for F-16s some years back. Made it easier for politicos to understand the sales pitch... buyers get all confused on the showroom floor.... The new Hornet is an E and F ....what is yours?....
Well our new models are E and F too. Too bad we missed out on Super Viper or Super Falcon.
So you no longer have a C... but a C+
They tried that with the Block 52 but putting it against the number block thing just isn't the same.
Then of course you have CG F-16s and CJ F-16s... ( do they still use that? ) Which is probably easier to teach theater command posts different platforms...i.e. a Navy command post guy that doesn't know F-16s... would at least know that a CG goes for strike and CJ goes for those big bad radar and SAM thingys...
etc etc until it is changed again. When they start hanging Seabass with lasers on their heads off of F-16s then I am sure some other letters will show up. |

All I know is when a person says F-16C I know they are talking about a Blk 25/30/32, when they say F-16CG they are talking about a Blk 40/42, and when they say F-16CJ they are talking about a Blk 50/52, and now of course we can say its a CCIP jet and I also know what we are talking about, but I agree with with Joe an F-16C+ does not exist in the real world and I have been on this aircraft over 25yrs.
Cheers,

| I remember seeing several of our flight suit inserts walking around with a little 1/2" x 1" "F-16C+" patch on one of their upper sleeves about the time the SADL radios got installed on our jets. Of course, those of us in the know just tell people what block numbers we have (had, in my case...). |
