2 P-51s collided in Oshkosk today at the EAA airshow. One pilot was killed, the other walked away. Apparently it was a father/son team. Even in the civvie side of things there are always reminders of just how dangerous the profession can be.

Sad news this weekend on so many fronts. The Phoenix chopper midair, P-51s at Osh Kosh, and today it was an aerobatics pilot down in Florida.
I'd say something about keeping it safe out there, but it just doesn't feel right somehow right now.
Godspeed to those we lost and my deepest condolences to those they left behind. |

Sadly, we can never take what we and others do or have done for granted, aviation is a very dangerous and wonderful business.
I am saddened to hear of so many tragic errors have occurred in one weekend, it is not good for the community or the profession but accidents do happen, we must learn from it so not to make that mistake again.
My prays to the families of the pilots and camera crew that have passed on trying to help or entertain us all - Salute |

| I really hate to hear about all these mishaps, but as Meathook has pointed out already, It is the nature of the beast in the aviation industry. It comes with the territory. But I'd still like to send my heart felt condolences to those affected by all these incidents. |

| I have often wondered about the necessity of multiple news helicopters covering the same story. It seems that all of the News stations in a certain market should pool their money together and fly one helecopter which could then send the footage to every station that has an interest in the group. I have seen footage where there are what seems like a dozen news helecopters all flying uncontrolled in the same space beaming back tpretty much the same footage. It was a disaster waiting to happen if you ask me. Godspeed to the crews of all the accidents this weekend. |

| That's 3 P-51s wrecked now in as many weeks. If people can't and/or refuse to fly these things in a safe manner they don't need to be flying them. It's pretty GD selfish considering someone 50, 100, 200 years from now won't have anything to look at because of people dumping them. |

We always said that mishaps occur in threes. Hopefully this will be it for a while... |

As for the airframe that was destroyed at Oshkosh, it was a plans-built P-51, not an original. |
