Just a few shots here of an F-106 now on display. Background is pretty cluttered so sorry about that. |

Great pics !
I think I've got a couple of shots of the F-106 at March ARB - I'll double check and post when I get home . |

| My two flights in a family model were a couple of the most enjoyable sorties I ever had. That machine was a sweet ride! |

| I have aerials on all the outdoor F-106s on google earth, but none from the ground. |

My first jet was the F-106. Beautiful, fast, sexy, and a royal pain in the a$$ to work on. Must be a Convair/GD trait, eh??
There exists a website devoted to the Six, http://www.f-106deltadart.com , that gives a really good account of the jet and all of the static displays. From the pics in this thread, the Six looks like it's 59-0023, painted up in 48th FIS (Langley AFB) colors . Anybody know for sure? The reason I ask is that the real 59-0023 is on static display at Dover AFB DE, and its paint job don't look nuttin' like that.
There's gotta be more than a few Viper guys who were also Sixers. I'd love to see their tales in here.

| How fast can the six go? I heard it's capable of going much more than the 1524 mph record run because it was still accelerating as it was leaving the course. |

| The AMI mach tape went up to 2.8. I saw a Minot jet come back one time in 1972 with the paint burned off the leading edges of the wings and tail. |

| SixerViper, thankx a bunch for the link! Can U recommend other good references for the Six? Books I mean. I got a couple by Bert Kedzie ( I'm one of those "glue-sniffers" you've probably heard about) and the Squadron/Signal book but that's it for now. Luckily, the local Wally-World sells the nice 1/48 Revell-Monogram kits for like $12 ( I've picked up several!)!! |

| Lodni-- Just about every book ever published on the Six is listed on the Pat's World site. If there are any other "Six" books, I'm not aware of them. Wish I could help more. I remember making more than a few models of the Six back in the day. Haven't built a model in YEARS! I remember building a model of a Deuce (F-102) when I was a kid--you closed the canopy and the gear retracted. Open it, and the gear extended. Cool model! |
