Salute!

I really like browsing the neat pics our group has to offer.

However, the deluge of large pics (greater than 100-200K) on the Thud thread is not real fun.

I remind all that less than half of all net users have highspeed connects, even frequent surfers and posters like ol' Gums.

The recommended procedure is to use a place like www.photobucket.com to store your pics, then post the url in your post. You can even put all the pics in one "sub album" to share with us, so's we get thumbnails for closer examination.

For example, here's the pic of my jet for the leading edge flap incident:

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o196 ... htwing.jpg

I ewould have posted this as a reply on the other topic, but I couldn't (didn't want to ) wait over an hour to get to the bottom of the topic, heh heh.

Gums sends...

Gums,

Great idea you have there Smile I use another solution which still allows you to attach them without the long download times (yes, I'm on dialup too Wink ). Microsoft has a free picture resizer "powertoy" for download on their site. Just download, install, and you'll be able to right click on any picture on your computer and choose the size you want. I either use large or small - large is 1024x768 and small is 640x480. Since the pics are resized to 500x500 by the board anyway, most will never notice the difference. Resizing to small takes that 1.5 meg file and shrinks it to under 100K.

[Edit]

I figured it might be a good idea to include a link to the executable installer for the resizer powertoy and the page that tells you what it is:

Right click here and save as to download the resizer powertoy.

Click here for info on the resizer powertoy.

Maybe just setting basic limits... 800x600 and a size limit.

If saved through photoshop as a jpeg "High" (60% qual)... an aircraft shot is rarely more than 60 or 70kb.. infact blue sky shots are around 12kb!
