The ground jett switch is how we enable the weapon system for ground ops checks. You can shoot weapons on the ground if you know the correct switch settings. This is open info and has nothing to do with WOW switches. All ground ops checks we do with the 5060 and 501 testers have you at some time, energize the release voltage to the station. I have seen folks burn carts in pylons plenty of times simply because they did not ensure all the stations were de-armed. The same thing can happen with missiles.
Iron Eagle got that part right and most likely had no idea.

Ya got F4, then it is in your game too. Landing gear panel far left. Nothing to do with classified. It is common switch on all F-16C/D block 25 and up. I never spent a whole bunch of time on A/B jets so I really can't speak to them much. I don't have a picture of the cockpit. I am sure many of you here do. When you live the things like I have you really don't think about wanting a picture.

You need a radar lock in GM, GMT etc... to slave to the Maverick for it to fire. You will not receive any kind of radar lock sitting on the ground with WOW. Pilots use ground jet enable to bring the missle live, but only to boresight it prior to takeoff so it is looking where the radar is looking...

awetsock, you are incorrect. You do not need any form of radar lock to fire a MAV. Go, uncage, TMS forward and hold, slew with RCE and release TMS. Target locked, pickle.
I am a weapons troop on these birds (18 years) and sit next pilots for coworkers. If you had to have a radar to shoot a MAV then those A-10s would never get a chance to use one of their primary weapons. I have run up plenty of MAVS ((TGM video checks) 5060, 501 ops checks both test sets have you pickle and check the voltage)) in my day and never used the Radar.
Don't believe all you read but on this page on the internet I am the expert. Back off and write about what you know and not what you think you know. If you are a 462 you might wanna get out of the loadbarn and onto a maint. crew cause you have some holes in your knowledge base.

Accurate and precise information from the experienced Viper crews are much appreciated here on our forum. But I guess it is the virtual friendship, we're forging here through sharing of humble knowledge, makes this such a wonderful forum.

Just would like to ask you guys if the Vipers has been used operationally with two Mavs on either station 3 or 7 using the BRU-57 / LAU-117 combination?
when in a mix, check six.

Has the LOAL version of the Mav entered service somewhere?
For those who do not know: it's a Mav fitted with a mini data link, a rail with a data link, and from that on, the hardware is the same. The video link does not break off when the weapon leaves the a/c, and the other way around it is still possible to send cueing, lock on, and FOV (pinky), etc. commands to the missile while in flight. In theory it means that the full kinematic envelope of the missile can be utilised, as it flies itself to a point where the performance of the EO head (CCD) makes fine aimpoint selection/lock possible, instead of the launching aircraft carrying it to that point. Makes Mav into a kind of "stand off" weapon.
