First Vipers had a Nickname

Those of us at HAFB, Utah when the first F-16 was delivered in January 1979 may recall that the jets numbered 78-00X (1,2,3,4,etc) were called "Balls". This jet was known as "Balls 1". Sgt, Jim Cason
