NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE NEV.,-- An F-16E from Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates lands safely on the Nellis runway after completing a training mission at Red Flag 09-5. This is the first time the UAE fighters have participated in Red Flag. Red Flag is a realistic combat training exercise involving the air forces of the United States and its allies. The exercise is conducted on the 15,000-square-mile Nevada Test and Training Range, north of Las Vegas. Red Flag is one of a series of advanced training programs administered by the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center and Nellis, through the 414th Combat Training Squadron. Flying for Red Flag 09-5 begins Aug. 24 and ends Sept., 4. U.S. aircraft will come from Nellis in Nevada, Massachusetts, Utah, Louisiana California, Washington, Oklahoma, Arizona, Florida, and Kansas. Allied Aircraft from Italy and the United Arab Emirates will also participate along side the U.S. Aircraft.
