Date/Time Thu 27 Aug 2009 12:30:11 AM CEST IPTC: Caption NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE NEV.,-- An F-16E from Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates lands safely on the Nellis runway after completing a training mission at Red Flag 09-5. This is the first time the UAE fighters have participated in Red Flag. Red Flag is a realistic combat training exercise involving the air forces of the United States and its allies. The exercise is conducted on the 15,000-square-mile Nevada Test and Training Range, north of Las Vegas. Red Flag is one of a series of advanced training programs administered by the U.S. Air Force Warfare Center and Nellis, through the 414th Combat Training Squadron. Flying for Red Flag 09-5 begins Aug. 24 and ends Sept., 4. U.S. aircraft will come from Nellis in Nevada, Massachusetts, Utah, Louisiana California, Washington, Oklahoma, Arizona, Florida, and Kansas.
