I was on this program, for low IR signature. The black laminate is just that, a laminate. It looked like black trash bags with adheasive, cut to size on the whole upper surface.
The gold coatings were bascially a brass pigment which was prone to major smudging, with even the slightest touch.
After only about 12 days, it was stripped and painted back gray.
