USAF F-16C block 50 #97-0106

CC:208 is the first production Phase 1 CCIP aircraft for USAF. Since it first arrived at Eglin with a kluged M2 OFP core tape it has since become a workhorse for F-16 operational testing.

Correct photo locale

The picture was taken at Inchas AB, not Cairo West. It was the first block 15 delivered to the 421st and served as the Sq Commanders aircraft through both myself and Roy Neisz.

Leading edge of verticle stab

Probably had the VHF antenna swapped out. It's located it that part of the vertical stabilizer.

I was a crew chief on this aircraft a while back. I also agree, this does not appear to be straight from SWA. The left Elevator, leading edge, is still primer color, after a repair. More importantly, the Aim-9 Missile on station 8 (right wing, second station inboard) has a blue band around it, not yellow, meaning it was a training missile that does not fire.

Tail Number

I used to maintain this bird, back when it was correctly marked. She was one of the oldest in the fleet. It's actually an '87, but knowing Hill's supervision, it is no surprise they refused to change it. Great airplane though, I miss her.

Wrong jet/location

This jet is a Block 25, from the lack of ECS air scoop and vents on the dorsal fin. Only Block 25 with serial ending in 267 is 84-1267. Lizard paint scheme is from the F-16 CAS trials. From the proximity of the mountains and LF-coded jets in the background, location is probably Luke AFB, not Nellis.

I was the DCC on this jet during the deployment while this picture was taken. My jet (149) did not deploy with us.

Combat Hammer

I believe this was shot by MSgt Bo Harris during a Combat Harris exercise at the Utah Test and Training Range circa 1999-2000.

Vertical shot

My first and last attempt to shoot F-16s going vertical. I shot this on a training mission with some very cooperative fighter pilots. I shot about 8 images on motor drive before we rolled over the top. Didn't realize the horizon was tilted until I had film processed. The angle is the same as the angle the ejection seat faces as I went by feel rather than looking at the horizon. Bob Brown, MSgt USAF

Photo in UTTR

This photo was Photoshopped to get the horizon level. When I took the shot I was reclined in the F-16 seat and didn't realize that I was vertical. I hit motor drive and didn't realize the G forces fooled my body. Lesson learned, look at the horizon line when shooting going vertical. Bob Brown, MSgt(retired USAF)
