I remember this ceremony. I was working the flightline delivering BDUs during the photoshoot.

446
Hey Carla I have been taking care of 446 since 1992 here in South Dakota. I crewed 79-1346 at McDill back in the early 90's. It is a predictable jet and has served our unit well. Cool Paint job out of the factory! Wondering if you have a better print of this? Bloomer 446

If the serial number is the same, #92880 is the new Thunderbird #1 as the 'Birds are upgrading to the Blk 52 Vipers for the 09-10 Airshow season.

Correction
Correction: The AGM-84 you are referring to is an AGM-88 Harm.

TGP
It is indeed a TGP (targeting pod) but it is a Lightning. It is in CCD mode which LANTIRN doesn't have. (You can see CCD on the left hand side of the screen.) What that means is that WHOT or BHOT on the right side doesn't matter since it is not in FLIR. When you swap back to FLIR THEN it will be in the WHOT mode.

First Vipers had a Nickname
Those of us at HAFB, Utah when the first F-16 was delivered in January 1979 may recall that the jets numbered 78-00X (1,2,3,4,etc) were called "Balls". This jet was known as "Balls 1".

Night Falcon.
Not 85-1446. This is in fact a "true" Block-40 - hence the landing/taxi lights in the front wheel-door and the "Big Inlet".

The photo is not from a HUD, but rather from a targeting pod. --just helpin a brother out. :-)

Great shot!!! Where is it, over Nevada?

Henrik
This is a "Big Inlet" Block-30 from the 27 FW / 523 FS "CC". This unit deployed Saudi Arabia in 2002 flying SEAD/HARM missions relying on "external" assets as the Block-30s do not carry the AN/ASQ-213 HTS.

Your right Neils, but note that the serial number printed above the door is 92-0906.

This pic was not taken by USAF - it's one of a series of shots taken by Neville Dawson, which LM Aero also used in their F-16 advertisements. The jets are from the 482 and 944 FWs, AFRC.

TheGib
I believe this would be an image from a Litening targeting pod not a Lantirn. Since almost all ANG and AFRC F-16 units use Litening now.

This was my jet straight out of the factory when it arrived at Hill AFB. I tried to get the base to keep the cool tail painting but they would not.
