I was the first Crew Chief on 89-2138 when it arrived at Shaw AFB SC. It only had 10 hours on it when it came from the factory. I was chosen to crew for General Horner and moved over to 89-2129. MSGT Don Easley, retired.

I am currently the dedicated crew chief on ACFT 2138. It now has just under 4,000 flight hours and is still an awesome jet!

Crew Chief 89-2138

I was with the 138 CAM Squadron when I was a Crew Chief on A-7D 0992. I hand lettered every word, and number on the A-7's. I was on a very proud acceptance team among some of the finest Crew Chief's that ever touched a Fighter Jet. Our team went to Sumpter South Carolina to get 89-2138 and other F-16's. I among others where responsible to hand paint every Indian Head on those planes in the begining. I was the Comanders Crew Chief until I retired in 2000. I have taken 89-2138 everywhere with pride. I have a model of it on my desk at work. I am the ONLY Crew Chief of the Jet who can boast to have a Model company come and take pictures of it and make a decal sheet with both my name and my Friend Col. Jerry (Hummer) Hume. I was proud of it then, and am proud today to have been a part in the history of the 138 FW. To the current Crew Chief, hold your head high. I know you are good or you wouldn't be there but you can not be as good as the Friends I served with, nor the pilots I got to fly with, but it gives you something to strive for. God Bless all.
