A German MIG-29 (right) is parked on the flightline at Ramstein AB next to USAF F-16D block 30 #87-0383 from the 526th FS. Following their MIG-29 flight, Maj. Gassner and Gen. Oaks reversed roles and embarked on a flight in the F-16. Since the end of the Cold War, armed forces from the east and west are meeting to further understand and strengthen friendships. Such a visit occurred when a MIG-29 from former East Germany landed and hosted a flight for Gen. Oaks. Gen. Oaks returned the favor by giving the German pilot an F-16 ride on August 11th, 1993.
