The 55th FS was an A-10 squadron at Shaw until it shut down and reactivated at Shaw in Aug of 1997. Aircraft were pulled from the 77th, 78th, and 79th to fill the squadron. 91-0355 was the first squadron flagship. Ironically when it taxied out to fly the first sortie on the first day of flying it ground aborted at EOR for a fuel leak on one of the finger braces. The rest of the story, while in the fuel barn, one of the guys there tried to use a pneumatic driver to tighten the finger brace. We all know there is zero tolerance for scratches on those things so when the driver slipped and slid across the brace the jet was down for over two months waiting for a new finger brace.
