P-38, my fovorite Uncle Billy flew them in Europe, what an amazing design and sheer raw power it had for its time....it served Allied Forces well. Of course there are many other amazing aircraft in the conflict of WWII but this one is special to me and my family
More than likely have "been there and done that at some point", it sure keeps you young if done correctly
One of the planes that I think might have been overlooked is the mighty B-36 Peacemaker - Six Turnin' and Four Burnin'!
I personally think that the A-12 and SR-71 both qualify as classics and get my vote .
I'd also like to salute those classics that continue to serve in the U.S. - and not just the older folks on the flightline . Here's to the KC-135 Stratotanker, U-2 Dragonlady, B-52 Stratofortress, and the C-130 Hercules !
Of course, I can't forget the F-104 Starfighter !
No plane on Sunday, maybe be one come Monday... www.parrotheadjeff.com
