According to reports, Germany has decided to purchase a mixed fleet of next gen upgraded Typhoon, Super Hornet and Growler to replace the first Tranche 1 Typhoon in the air to air role, Tornado IDS in the Reconnaissance/Maritime/Strike/Nuclear attack roles plus the Tornado ECR in the SEAD role.

Current plans will see the following purchased...

90 Typhoon in project quadriga config
30 F/A-18E - to be B61 Nuclear Bomb cleared
15 E/A-18G

I wonder if Eurofighter considered asking Saab to assist them in developing the Typhoon ECR -- probably cheaper and more capable than trying to do it themselves....

Split buy is the worst of both worlds..

Problem #1: Neither airframe is capable of carrying the B-61. So their #1 concern (at least, that's how they're acting) goes un-addressed.
Problem #2: Small SH/Growler fleet - logistical nightmare, especially as the fleet shrinks.
Problem #3: Both will be obsolete within 10 years, perhaps as early as 5

Who's running the show in Germany, Canadian rejects from their cluster#$%# fighter acquisition model???

I still see nothing about the EF being bought having the AMK.
