South Carolina F-16s collide during routine night operations.

Good to know the pilots are OK, although this doesn't help the crash statistics much.

Found this article online that states that the lost jets are both FY93;
http://www.wyff4.com/news/sc-fighter-je ... a/39953644

This would limit the Vipers involved to any two of the following;
93-0531
93-0533
93-0535
93-0537
93-0539
93-0541
93-0543
93-0545
93-0547
93-0549
93-0551

IMO, the USAF is very transparent WRT accident investigation reports; so just wait a few months for this accident report to come out.

The two jets involved were 92-899 and 93-531. Aircraft 899 has 157 FS on the tail flash. This was the unit I retired from a few years ago. We had not lost any jets in over 30 years until last week. Glad both pilots are OK.

92-3899 and 93-0531 - what a shame.

See Weaselweapons post prior to mine - it is from here the information comes. I just wrote the full serial number.

F-16 Fighter jet investigation timeline

2016/12/06

Back in June, the South Carolina Air National Guard was doing a routine, night-flying training mission when they crashed into each other.

Flight animation shows the exact moment two F-16s collided over Jefferson County.
The re-creation made from actual flight data shows the jets spinning and turning for almost a minute before falling still.
