Maj. Ryan Howland of the F-22 Combined Test Force at Edwards AFB, California, was at the controls for the first supersonic AIM-9X launch From an F-22 on 30 July 2012.

Many, including myself, have felt this missile should have been operational with the F-22 long ago. Not with the "ancient" 9M.

Yep. Once the F-22 gets the Block II -9Xs, that will represent a major leap in capability.
