Like the First Fighter Sqn, the design of the tail is very artistic but the bright red V breaks the camou and gives away the low-viz look of the Viper :?

Pumpkin, the origin of the Bat Squad. is way back in September '56, and through out the years it has operated the Meteor, the Vatour, the Mirage III, the F-4E/RF-4E, and now it operates the F-16I. The bright red V marking is a tradition of the squad. to mark its aircrafts (almost every squad has one).

thanks for the explanation DeepSpace, the ACIG profiles of the Mirage and Phantom were very nicely drawn. To my best understanding, combat fighters wearing sqn significant insignia/formation design usually has 2 options, the low-viz and hi-viz markings. There is no change in the design to the former but only very much subtle. It can be boring at times but certainly for the practical reason.

cheers,
Desmond
