One of the six contenders in the Indian MRCA competition to provide the Indian Air Force with 126 multi-role fighters, to be license-built by HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) with technology transfer is the F-16IN Block 70 Viper.

Here a some of the pictures.

It was given the Block number 70 as a follow on from the UAE's F-16E/F Block 60, carrying the same avionics and CFTs. Anyway, this (Block 70 Viper) was a prototype.

Read these two links, NATOVIPER.

"Block 70" is merely a de facto block number.

Nice piece on F-16 evolution in there too :)

http://www.codeonemagazine.com/archives ... index.html

If the IAF bother with the F-16 "no space left so we'll just weld it on the side for you!" against that competition it would surprise me - would LM even let it be licence built - cos thats a requirement too!

Sweet Jet!

Maybe I should e-mail Obama one of the brochures and ask him to stop bailing out corrupt/greedy industries and pick up a few squadrons of these puppies. :D

I have not seen any official information that would indicate to me that Lockheed is calling the F-16IN a "Block 70".

It’s not the first time images of a delta-viper show up, but is it a realistic and affordable option?
Not only should more than half the plane be redesigned, also the production lines would have to transform a whole lot of their facilities.
Maybe, if there would be like 3 our 4 potential costumers with a high enough amount of airframes to be purchased, it could be possible, but I don’t really see this happen.
Too bad, ‘cause I think it looks good and it sure has potential. Both in the air-to-air fighter as in the fighter-bomber role.
When flying, always make sure the pointy end goes forward.

Because there is no "Blk 70" yet. I have no idea why the topic starter would say that.

Block 70 is merely a follow on from the Block 60 Viper, in service with the UAEAF.

I guess you don't get it. Nobody is calling it a Block 70 except you.

You guys make me laugh! There is no Block 70. All the photos EXCEPT the delta wing re-entry vehicle thingy are of the Block 60. Been there/Done that.
