Thanks for the welcome Lieven. This is the best tactical discussion site I've seen.
I've been flying a block 30/GE and am enjoying it a lot. I'm most impressed with the visibility and ergonomics. The airspeed meter does move much faster. I noticed the gas gauge moves quite a bit quicker too.
I wasn't sure what to expect with the fly-by-wire setup with very little stick movement but it is very well designed and the stick/rudder forces matched perfectly with what I thought was necessary (a credit to the design, not my intuition).
It's very easy to fly overall and is the first thing I've flown where the plane feels like an extension of yourself if that makes sense. A spare engine would be nice but the GE seems to run like a clock with plenty of redundancy (knock on wood).
Overall, it's an incredible airframe....probably why they built so many. A privilege to fly. It's hard to compare with the A-10.
Both aircraft are superior to each other in different aspects. Though I've never employed the Viper, I'm sure both do their intended mission very well. Apples and oranges.
