Looks like the Moro Rock area in the Western Sierras / Sequoia Nat Park but I could be mistaken.

WoW, did you notice that the majority of the best F-35 pictures (at least IMO) are from Dutch F-35s? I wonder why?

I was expecting door edges to be more flush... Or is it just the angle from which the. Pic was taken?

Lighting is important here, so even the small edges can create shadows that stand out. Additionally, I don't think the edges are as flush as one might think. Even if you manage to make the doors overlap very well, there *will* be an edge there.

Could actually be that the best result for stealth is a slightly larger gap in more precise angles if you can't control it well when aiming for the smallest possible gap.

Gaps on the J-20 bays look even larger. Interesting to note is that the small covers for the IRAAM arm have both flush and gapped sides. The regularity suggests there is good reason for the bay door gaps.
