RN goes before RAF - the RN is the Senior Service - RN/RAF is it. Seriously. And never add 'the' to HMS Queen Elizabeth as in the incorrect 'the HMS....' - just use HMS which stands for Her Majesty's Ship. So saying "the Her Majesty's Ship" is just dumb. OK?

Just a common error - even with British News Media - who are just CRETINS and natives really of CRET. Sure why would anyone not of the HM persuasion know that? I geddit - still RN comes before RAF every time (includes RAN before RAAF).

What is UK's army called? British Army (BA)? Royal Army (RA)? I don't think I've ever heard of the Royal Army. But if there is a RA... which comes first? RN or RA? Following your logic, the RA must be senior to the RN, eh wot? Unless the British were birthed in the sea (a possibility). Or are you going to throw the Royal Marines card? :drool:

Don't know if it's true that a long time ago the Army rebelled against the Crown so their use of "Royal" was forbidden.

That's not the precise reason.

Post-civil War, England now has a standing army. This really unified the idea of having one single army rather than armies. However, the army remained rather fragmented. Infantry, cavalry and artillery would have looked at each other as separate branches of the military just the same as the navy and air force see each other as separate today. These branches were further sub divided by regiments and battalions. Thus any special title was not conveyed onto the army as a whole, but on the regiment (or other unit) that warranted recognition.

I still think a mix buy of F-35A's and F-35B's is a better solution for the UK....

For example within the 138 planned purchase.

My split would look something like.......

4 F-35B Squadrons Royal Navy (48 aircraft)

2 F-35B Squadrons Royal Air Force (24 aircraft)

3 F-35A Squadrons Royal Air Force (36 aircraft)

1 F-35A/B Squadron Royal Air Force (12 aircraft/mix) OCU (RN & RAF)

1 F-35A/B Squadron Royal Air Force (4 aircraft/mix) 17 (R) Operational Test and Evaluation

Total "124" + 14 (attrition) = 138
