Not many of us get the chance to have such a unique photo taken.

Notice - no other on lookers getting in the way AND I managed to sneak the family four door sedan into the pic for good measure.

Those with keen eyes may also notice my callsign on the vehicle just under the flashing light.

Anyone wanna hazard a guess at the specific details regarding the aircraft and location etc ???

:) :?: :) :?: :)

Jealous? Nope. Not when your standing in front of the JSF mock up. My guess would be down under at an airshow/expo showing off the F-35.

My guess would be from an airshow in Melbourne or somewhere nearby.

I guessed Australia due to the Australian flag on the left vertical tail. Neat photo.

Yes, it is a mockup of the F-35. It is put together much like lego; possibly the ultimate scale model hobby. It is suppose to represent the latest version of the F-35 at the time but, of course, there are even more cosmetic changes since this model was built thus making it "inaccurate" in terms of accuracy.

But, it does it's job well in terms of giving the public an idea of what the plane looks like and what it is all about. Sitting in the cockpit is fun. You'll immediately notice the wide screen display (that actually works showing pre-loaded stuff) and lack of switches and buttons. Truely Buck Rogers stuff.

I'm telling you, Viper pilots are going to REALLY like it.

I work for the US Government, won't say which agency though, that has close ties with Boeing, LM and DoD. And like Happy_Gilmore, not saying anymore there.

LMAO Scorpion1, I didn't dare even pipe in on this one until I read your post. I get to hang out with the real deal F-35 EVERY DAY and LOVE IT, it's freaking AWESOME, but it's not the jet in the picture.
Like Scorpion1 said, ya'll be smart and watch what you say here, Big Bro is reading, I learned my lesson the hard way.

We're sorry Happy. We didn't mean to be the cause of your troubles. Though it was fun to find stuff out. As for Scorpion, darn you, its like giving us a taste and nothing more ARGH. Oh well, I understand the need for secrecy and all that jazz so I'll quit being a pest. Anyway, there is one thing I'm curious about with respect to the JSF. Since there are 3 models that will eventually fly, are there going to be 3 test planes? I know the first JSF just rolled out and later this year will start testing, but will they make one of those for each model to see how it performs?
Peace through superior firepower.

Dude PLEASE, NO WORRIES, no need to apologize to me, it's all good, I still have my job, life is GREAT but I appreciate it anyway. I dig your picture, the split nose gear doors gave it away.
Oh and Scoprion1, you can count on that dude, don't sweat it.

Happy

LOB,

There will actually be more than just three F-35 "test" aircraft (traditionally called "prototypes" for those of use who are use to calling it that) as called in the System Development & Demonstration (SDD) phase which it is in right now. Twenty-two (22) test aircraft are scheduled to be built with fourteen (14) flyable test aircraft. The breakdown, if my memory serves correctly is:

-Five F-35A CTOL (The 1st just rolled out as you've seen)
-Four F-35B STOVL
-Five F-35C CV

The other articles are non-flying and will be used for static, fatigue, RCS, etc. testing.

Hope this answers your question.
