We got some great spotting right before Christmas! an 422 TES F-15C.... F35A delivery to Luke AFB.... and lots of locals.

F-35A did a wing wave as she was doing her take off.... F-15C spot with the new IRST21 pod.

..enjoyed the pics!

That new IRST sensor appears to be of the EOTS legacy.....the sensor pod could to be able to incorporate 1/2 to 3/4 of the DAS, when it can be developed.

Lots of F-15/ 16/ 18/ 22? "stuff" brewing from the LM/ F-35 program. :)

The new IRST21 pod is pure LM and owes all it's heritage to the AAS-42 on the Tomcat. No Northrup (EOTS) DNA in the mix.

Sorry, no issue with the TC legacy, but was referring to the pod functions "Data from the IR sensor is fused with other on-board sensor data to provide maximum situational awareness to the warfighter".

..and this one alluding to the pod as a comm-node...

According to Tyler Rogaway (he made a post on his site) it is a Talon HATE pod that is used to create a tactical BACN. I was kind of wondering why that pod was massive.

The C-model was always the plane I dreamt of flying.
