Mini HUD on USMC F-35Bs?
All F-35 aircraft WILL HAVE this forward extra camera that gets rid of the canopy bow obstruction. IF the F-35B or others had a 'mini-HUD' we would have heard about it by now? Not easy to hide if you found it? Maybe online there is a diagram showing how it all works. There is info on this forum about the extra camera becuz problematic canopy bow & ARF.
'SWP' has CAME to the rescue as usual already here: viewtopic.php?f=62&t=16223&p=371361&hilit=camera#p371361 PHOTO: http://i.imgur.com/cx27Csf.png page 52 Helmet-mounted displays in 'AVIONICS' sub-forum of F-35 forum.
TOP of page 52 same thread above is this graphic - look at the TOP LEFT CORNER tidbit for FCAM: viewtopic.php?f=62&t=16223&p=371357&hilit=explained#p371357 Graphic: download/file.php?id=24991

I have no clue what that is??
It does not appear to be in the LOS of the pilot or even if it was, he would be looking "at" the nose rather than "over" it.
Here is a thought. One of the fixes in the works/being tested is a new Optical head tracker to join the Magnetic and Inertial ones used to track the pilots head in the cockpit environment. It looks like it may be a part of that.

If you go to the publically released video from earlier this summer you will note the glareshield camera feed during the ship recovery. You might also note the discontinuity between the image provided by the helmet-mounted cam and this other on the glare shield. I suspect it's less distracting live than the video suggests.
Added FCAM image to previous post (I'm slow) VIDEO for graphic as mentioned uploaded by 'halloweene'/'SWP':
Pretty sure that little glass thing on the side is the BRU mentioned in spazsinbad's graphic - the "reticle" part in particular makes me thing it's just something that one of the FCAM sensors (which should be able to see it given how they're ~10cm above the pilot's eyes) uses as a known spatial reference.
