I found this picture of F-16A FSD #1 75-0745 in a rather patriotic/promotional paint scheme at the Wright Patterson US Air Force Museum. airliners.net doesn't let you hotlink so here's the URL:

I don't think that aircraft is there any longer. I asked why they would get ride of the first FSD F-16? They advised me that they prefere to get aircraft with combat history. Too bad its gone, it was replaced by the T-bird F-16 which looks great, but would have liked to have seen both aircraft as they are both unique. F-16's don't take up much space.

Here is what I don't know:

(1) What happened to the F-16 FSD aircraft # 1? Where did it go?
(2) Any word on weather the USAF museum is still going to get the VISTA F-16?
(3) Has anyone seen a MiG-29 at the USAF museum? I photographed one years ago being rebuilt and was not sure if it is on display yet? Or was it being rebuilt for another museum? (off topic I know)

Thanks in advance,
Jon Somerville

I heard it was "on tour" as a recruiting tool. There was a thread over on ARC a couple of months ago about an F-16 with a funky camo job, IIRC it turned out to be #1

If so I would think it will be many years from now. Calspan leases 'time' on the bird, like the Gripen control law tests for example.
(3) Has anyone seen a MiG-29 at the USAF museum?

I haven't heard anything on that - was it one of the Moldovian (sp?) birds?

Hi habu2

I think it was a Moldovian (sp?) MiG-29 because the timing was right. I'll post pictures of it sometime.

Yes, from what I've heard, the USAF museum is going to get the VISTA F-16. Heard that years ago, but wondered if anyone knew if that had changed.

Thanks
Jon
