I noticed an odd quirk regarding an F-16.

On the following page, the most recent info shows an odd mix of current registrations... is it possible somehow that an F-16 could be owned by the Netherlands, but is currently being used by the Arizona National Guard?

http://www.f-16.net/aircraft-database/F ... file/2522/

Am I missing something or is that a bit odd?

Thanks so much, I've been banging my head on this mystery!

The Dutch have sent F-16s to Arizona in two separate time periods. Once in the late years of the 1980s and recently. They often carry markings of the Arizona ANG but are owned by the Dutch. Training is done in Arizona due to the great flying conditions.

It is not unique either, you will also see this with the UAE F-16s. Germany flew F-4s out of Holloman AFB, New Mexico for years and many were in a mixed set of US / German markings.

The Dutch AF did it's pilot conversion training in the US for about 10 years in the late eighties, early nineties. They send 10 vipers to the US and they were dispatched to the Arizona ANG and got local markings as well. [Photo by Scott Van Aken]

And here is a UAE example:

Not sure if they re-marked the jets at the time, but the Dutch have also trained for a time in Ohio, as well.

The RNoAF also has an F-16 in the US, #666 http://www.f-16.net/aircraft-database/F ... ofile/936/ - so it's likely not uncommon at all. There was also one, much like above, that had US colors: http://www.f-16.net/g3/f-16-photos/album37/album09/ach

Sharing is caring ;)

162nd Wing in Tucson AZ has been training many countries F-16 pilots over the years, including Iraqi, UAE, Portugal, Singapore, Thailand, Belgium, Norway, etc. It is also one of the most varied F-16 flight lines, sometimes having Block 20, 32, 42, 52+, 60, etc. at different times.

It is certainly not uncommon at all for foreign aircraft to be stationed CONUS, but the original post was to the degree of the aircraft sharing the same markings, example the Dutch F-16s in Arizona ANG markings. That is far less common, but still not totally unique. What others are out there like this?

I believe there are Singapore F-15SGs based at Mountain Home. That's the only other unit I can think of since the Germans retired their Holloman F-4s around 1997.
I'm a mining engineer. How the hell did I wind up here?

425 FS and the 21 FS in Luke. Both have USAF Markings but the aircraft belong to Singapore and ROC respectively.
428 FS in Cannon AFB before it was disbanded also had USAF markings.

I also found this
